Update #7: lend with a reminder, leave on your own terms

New

Pick from your contacts. When you gift, lend or sell an item, you can now choose the recipient from your contacts. Start typing a name or email and the list narrows as you go.

A nudge for borrowers. Lending an item always came with the promise of a reminder email, and now it actually arrives. The borrower hears from us on the return date, again 3 days later, and then weekly until you mark the item returned. If they owe you several things, they're all in one email, sent in the morning of their own time zone.

Delete your account yourself. There's a new Account settings page where you can delete your account without emailing anyone. The deletion happens 7 days after you ask, and you can cancel any time before then. You get an email when you ask and another once it's done. If you're still borrowing something, the deletion waits until the lender marks it returned. The page also warns you that the record of items you've lent out will be lost.

Easier to find. Search engines now get a sitemap listing the blog, about pages and public items. New posts and public items get found without waiting for a crawler to come across a link to them.

Counting visits, not visitors. Collectiary now keeps anonymous visit statistics: how many pages are viewed each day and by how many visitors, split by page, device type, browser, country and referring site. No cookies are set. IP addresses and browser details are never stored, only the totals. The privacy policy has been updated to explain exactly what's counted and how.

Changed

A friendlier front door. The landing page has bigger, easier-to-tap buttons, a mention of barcode scanning, more readable pricing and text, and tidier blog blurbs. The theme and account buttons in the header are larger too.

Seamless covers. When a cover found by barcode scan doesn't fill its square thumbnail, the gap is now filled with a soft mirror of the cover's own edges instead of a blurred zoom, so you can't see where the cover ends.

Fixed

Private means private. A public collection could be opened through its link even when its owner's profile was private or limited to contacts. That's no longer possible.

Search that stays up. Searching your items could crash the page if a result had a hero image. It doesn't any more.

Smoother sign-outs. If you were logged out on another device or your session expired, an open page of your items, collections or settings could crash. Now it takes you to the login page instead.

A better dead end. The "page does not exist" page always showed you as signed out and ignored your chosen theme. It now shows you as signed in when you are, in your own theme.

Spelling counts. The company name in the footer was misspelled. Fixed, with some embarrassment.
